Bespoke tile products in Ireland: inside WeMake by Armatile

Most tile projects start and end with a tile from a catalogue. Some projects need something more. WeMake is Armatile's in-house fabrication service, and it exists for exactly those moments — when the right solution has to be designed and made from scratch.

Armatile has been supplying tiles across Ireland and Northern Ireland since 1975. For many projects, the process is straightforward: choose wall tiles, floor tiles or outdoor paving, then get everything ordered and ready for installation.

WeMake is different. It does not always start with a product from a catalogue. Sometimes it starts with a measurement, a drawing, a problem to solve, or even just an idea that needs to be shaped into something practical.

What WeMake Is

WeMake is Armatile's in-house bespoke fabrication service, based at our production facility on Station Road, Armagh, the same site as our head office and flagship showroom. It allows us to cut, shape, etch, assemble and finish tile-based products that are made to suit a specific project.

It is used by homeowners, interior designers, architects, contractors and commercial clients across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Every enquiry is looked at individually, because the whole point of WeMake is that the finished piece is made around the space, the tile choice and the project requirements.

Some projects need more than a tile from a catalogue. WeMake exists for those moments when the right detail needs to be made for the project, not picked off the shelf.

How WeMake Works

Behind the finished pieces is a mix of specialist machinery and hands-on skill. Some parts of the process are about precision cutting. Others are about finishing, assembly and getting the small details right.

5-axis waterjet cutting

Our 5-axis waterjet allows us to cut porcelain, stone and composite materials with a high level of accuracy. It is used for shaped profiles, curves, lettering, logos and more complex pieces where a standard straight cut would not be enough.

That precision is especially useful for Cuvia bathroom pieces, drainage details, decorative inlays and bespoke signage, where the finished result needs to look clean, considered and accurate.

Laser etching

Laser etching lets us add detail directly onto the tile surface. That could be a logo, lettering, a decorative pattern or a personalised design. It is a useful option when a project needs something individual, but still wants the finish to feel integrated into the tile.

Porcelain fabrication

Not every WeMake product is just about cutting. Our fabrication team also assembles and finishes bespoke porcelain pieces such as Cuvia basins, vanity shelves, step detail, drainage channels and custom tile components.

Mosaic cutting and assembly

Our mosaic team can create bespoke patterns from drawings, layouts, colour palettes or original design ideas. Individual pieces are cut and assembled into finished panels or sheets, ready to be installed as part of the wider tile design.

What WeMake Can Create

The range is broader than many people expect. Some WeMake products are practical details that solve a problem on site. Others are more decorative, designed to become a feature in the room.

Cuvia porcelain basins and vanity shelves

Cuvia is one of the clearest examples of what WeMake can do. Instead of choosing a standard basin and trying to make it work with the rest of the bathroom, the basin can be fabricated from porcelain to suit the tile, the dimensions and the overall design.

Cuvia basins are available in Studio (58x50cm), Gallery (88x50cm) and Signature (118x50cm) sizes as standard, with fully custom dimensions available on request. Vanity shelves can also be made to match, helping the bathroom feel more complete and considered.

Artisan mosaic designs

Mosaics are a good option when a project needs something with more character. Our team can work with patterns, shapes and colour combinations to create finished mosaic sheets for floors, walls, borders and feature panels.

Bespoke signage

WeMake can also be used for signage and branding details. This might include a logo, building name, typographic lettering or wayfinding element cut into tile, porcelain, stone or another suitable material.

Step edges, nosings and risers

Step edges, nosings and risers can be fabricated to suit the measurements of a specific staircase. This is useful for projects where the finish needs to look clean, consistent and made for the space rather than adapted on site.

Drainage channels

Drainage channels can be made from porcelain tiles or slabs from 6mm up to 20mm thickness. They are designed to sit neatly within wet rooms, shower areas and outdoor spaces, so the practical drainage detail does not feel separate from the rest of the tiling.

Laser-etched tile designs, bespoke panels and outdoor fabrication

WeMake can also cover laser-etched tile surfaces, custom wall and floor panels, decorative inlays, fabricated tableware and bespoke planters made using porcelain paving slabs. These pieces are usually designed to coordinate with the wider interior or outdoor scheme.

Who Uses WeMake

  • Homeowners often use WeMake for Cuvia basins, vanity shelves, feature walls, garden pieces or mosaic details that make a space feel more personal.

  • Interior designers and architects use the service when a project needs a specific finish, a custom detail or a piece that has to be made around a brief rather than chosen from a standard range.

  • Contractors and developers use WeMake for practical fabricated components such as step details, drainage channels and made-to-measure porcelain pieces that need to work with site dimensions.

If you are thinking about a WeMake product, it is worth involving our team early. Bespoke fabrication takes a little more planning, and it is usually easier to get the best result when the detail is part of the wider project conversation from the beginning. Contact us online or visit one of our showrooms in Armagh, Belfast, Newry or Dublin to start the conversation.

How to Enquire

You do not need a finished technical drawing to get started. Dimensions, rough sketches, inspiration images or a simple description of what you are trying to achieve are enough to begin the conversation.

The easiest way to start is to book a free consultation. Our team can talk you through your project, discuss dimensions, drawings or ideas, and advise on the next steps for Cuvia, mosaics or any other WeMake product. You can also enquire through the website or contact any of our showrooms in Armagh, Belfast, Newry or Dublin.

Every enquiry is treated individually. We will talk through the idea, advise on the best fabrication approach and provide a quote based on the specification where required. There is no obligation to proceed.

WeMake is one of the things that makes Armatile different from a standard tile supplier. So if your project needs something that cannot quite be bought off the shelf, it is worth speaking to us.
