Water Jet

We can also provide you with a 'Waterjet Cutting' Service which enables us to produce even the most intricate of designs to any specified size.

What is Waterjet Cutting?

Water is pressurised to 55000psi and piped to a cutting head. The cutting head has an orifice of only 1mm. The resulting water stream can be used to cut soft materials such as: Foam, Rubber, Plastics, Fibreglass, Laminates.

The Waterjet Cutting process is further developed by introducing a hard and sharp mineral (80's Grit Garnet) into a chamber close to the point of delivery.

Following this the Waterjet is able to cut any material - examples include: Glass, Ceramics, Stone, Marble, Porcelain, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Platinum, Gold Silver, Bronze, Brass.

FEATURES
  • The Waterjet can cut any sheet size up to 3m x 2m x 100mm to a tolerance of +/- 2mm.
  • The Waterjet causes no thermal or mechanical distortion as there is no heat used in the cutting process. This eliminates any heat stressing or discolouring of materials that may occur when using other cutting devices.

  • As there is no contact with any tools, the Waterjet eliminates the risk of edge deformation and the result is an excellent clean edge quality. Using the Waterjet is the most effective way to achieve the clean separation of any material.
  • With the Waterjet, the cutting jet is only 1mm in diameter which results in substantial savings in material utilisation.

  • The Waterjet can cut quicker than a laser cutter and can also cut through thicker material.
  • The Waterjet reproduces the same accurately cut component time after time.
  • Using a Waterjet produces no dust, pollutants or toxic fumes.
  • The Waterjet Cutter enables perfect cutting of otherwise complicated 3D configurations.

  • The Waterjet is linked to a CAD/CAM programming system. This ensures rapid development of designs and allows for subsequent modifications to be made easily.
  • Using the Waterjet immediately eliminates any restrictions on design complexity.
